What do you mean by MMID

Mobile Money Identifier or MMID is a 7 digit number of a bank customer. This number is used when you try to send or receive money using the IMPS method. Every bank account has only one MMID. This MMID would be unique to the bank account. Along with the mobile number, MMID identifies a bank account. Different MMID’s can be linked to same Mobile Number.

Today we can exchange cash to any record utilizing the ledger number and IFSC through the NEFT and RTGS. Be that as it may, these two strategies for cash exchange has the constraint. The NEFT and RTGS doesn't work round the clock. To defeat this issue the IMPS was formulated.

Now, when we use a mobile number and MMID both, we get to know the exact account. This combination has made the IMPS a successful mobile banking platform. The UPI is also based on this IMPS platform.

I need MMID - How To Get MMID

Now We know that each account can have an MMID. But banks don’t tell you MMID automatically. It gives only when you ask for MMID. Generally, It is given along with the mobile banking kit. The MPIN is also part of this kit. To get the MMID and MPIN, you have to activate the mobile banking.

You should know MMID to get money through mobile banking while MPIN is necessary to transfer money through the mobile. To get an MMID, you should be registered for mobile banking.

Registration for Mobile banking

Normally there are four ways of mobile banking registration.

You can visit the bank branch and fill the form of mobile banking. You would get the MMID and MPIN at your mobile or communication address.
You can also go the bank ATM and opt for mobile banking. After the confirmation, you get the SMS containing MMID and MPIN.
You can also use the mobile app of the bank to generate the new MMID.
You can also use the internet banking facility of the bank to generate MMID.
These are the common ways of getting MMID. However, I am presenting the specific method of getting MMID from SBI and ICICI Bank.

HOW TO GET MMID OF STATE BANK OF INDIA 

All registered Mobile Banking Users will be allotted MMID and which will be Send through SMS on next day of registration.

For others to Generate MMID:

• Go to ATM >MobReg>SMS SMS Alert / 3D Secured Code / IMPS>10 digit Mob No. Or Apply at the Branch for online registration.
• User will Receive MMID through SMS.

How to Retrieve or Cancel MMID:

• Send SMS “MMID SBI” to 9223440000 to retrieve your MMID.
• Send SMS “MMIDCANCEL” to 9223440000 to cancel your MMID.

HOW TO GET MMID FOR AXIS BANK :

• Sms – MMID to 5676782 / 9717000002

MMID for HDFC Bank :

• Sms MMID to 5676712

HOW TO GET MMID OF CITIBANK :

• To generate MMID, sms MMID XXXX to 52484. XXXX denotes last 4-digits of your Debit card number
• OR Generate using application.

HOW TO GET MMID FOR ICICI BANK :

• iMobile Application
• Go to iMobile on your mobile phone >> Select Bank Account >> Select Desired Account >> Select Insta FT(IMPS) >> Select Generate MMID >> Your 7-digit MMID will be displayed.

USSD

Dial *525# >> ICICI Bank Mobile Banking menu will appear. Enter 7 for More Services >> Enter 4 for Generate MMID >> Enter the last 4 digits of the account number for which MMID needs to be generated >> Your 7-digit MMID will be displayed.

SMS

SMS MMID >space< to 9222208888 to know MMID for the particular account.

Internet Banking

Login to Internet Banking >> Click on Generate MMID >> Select Account Number for which MMID needs to be generated.

HOW TO GET MMID OF IDBI BANK :

• MMID will be couriered.
• Sms <MMID> to 5676777

Generate MMID OF IDBI BANK :

• SMS MMID to 5607040

HOW TO GET MMID OF CANARA BANK :

• sms CANGENMMID userID MPIN 5607060
• OR Generate using application.

To get MMID number, please register yourself at Canara bank as follows:

• Select Mobile Registration>Select SMS /Secure Code / IMPS > enter your mobile number > Confirm.
• Select Funds Transfer > IMPS > Generate MMID

HOW TO GENERATE MMID OF  UNION BANK OF INDIA 

• From Application select – Fund transfer – other bank – IMPS – know your MMID.
• Alternatively For Sms Channel : sms MMID to 9223173921.

HOW TO GET MMID OF CORPORATION BANK :

• For getting MMID customer should fill the application form and submit to the base branch
• You will receive MMID through SMS from the bank

HOW TO GET MMID OF KOTAK MAHINDRA BANK :

• Send “K MMID B” as an SMS to 9971056767 or 5676788 from your mobile number registered with the bank. Here ‘B’ is the last 4 digits of your account number. The MMID for the account will be sent via SMS and email alerts. Alternatively, login to Mobile Banking and View the MMID ( IMPS Menu) by clicking on ‘View MMID’ option. Customer can also by Call 24-hour KMB Customer Contact Centre or visiting the nearest Kotak Mahindra Bank branch

HOW TO GET MMID OF BANK OF BARODA :

• MMID can be generated by using m-PAY application ( Fund Transfer –> Other Bank–> IMPS –> Generate MMID. )
• OR sms MMID to 9223173928

1.  Mobile Money Identifier (MMID) is a seven-digit number, issued by banks for effecting financial transactions through the user’s mobile phone.
